Norwegian Association of the Blind highlighted the life of the guide dog with “Revenge of the Puppy” (Blindeforbundet Valp) in 2006, combining Vera Lynn’s song, “We’ll meet again” with a tale of canine competition. The 45 second spot features Sesar, a young Labrador retriever, who is constantly outclassed by an Alsatian dog from across the fence.
When it rains the older dog takes over his kennel and food bowl. The Alsatian plays with his red ball and leaves his urinary mark on it. The Alsatian gloats from behind the pet door in his home, smirking at the Labrador outside. But things change when the young dog is taken to a school for guide dogs. One day, as an adult guide dog, the moment for revenge comes. On a wet cold night the Alsatian sees the Labrador going into a venue with a ‘no dogs’ sign…
The Norwegian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted (NABP) is an organization of blind and partially-sighted people in Norway which has been engaged in issues for the blind and partially sighted people in Africa, Asia and Latin-America since 1978. NABP’s overall objective is to strengthen the position of the blind and partially sighted in society so that it is on equal terms with others world-wide. NABP emphasizes direct co-operation with local partners and prioritizes countries where the situation for the blind and partially sighted is very difficult.
The objective for all co-operation in developing countries is based on the “self help principal.” Solidarity, not charity is the foundation for all co-operation both at home and abroad.
Revenge of the Dog was created at Try Reklamebyrå, Oslo, by creative director Kjetil Try, art director Karin Lund, copywriter Oystein Halvorsen and agency producer Ornulf Johnsen. Filming was shot by director Alexander Kayiambakis via Trobbel Film, Oslo, with producer Hugo Fosker and director of photography Petter Holmern.
