A new guide advising tourism businesses on how to welcome customers with guide dogs has been launched by VisitEngland and the Human Rights Commission (EHRC).
The ‘Take the Lead’ publication shows how accommodation providers and other businesses can make small changes to better service travellers with accessibility needs.
The accessible tourism market is said to be worth more than GBP2 billion a year.
“VisitEngland and the EHRC have worked together to make sure tourism businesses have the right information available to help them make all their customers welcome. Tourism businesses can expand their customer base by understanding how to treat people with assistance dogs,” said Mark Hammond, chief executive of the EHRC.
“The guide explains the important role assistance dogs play in the lives of their owners and provides answers to questions raised by the industry,” he added.
